Halley is now in the 5th grade and we have moved a few times since all of this began. She is doing well in 5th grade, still receives speech therapy 4 times a week at school and has "resource" classes or special education. She receives these services for reading and spelling, and is in a general education type math class, doing 5th grade math.
She is doing well on her speech, she has come along way. I can honestly say I have lost count of how many words she can say that you can understand. This is the first year that she really has spoken in complete sentences...they were always really choppy and she would leave out words like "the, and, an,is..." She used to say.."I go to mall." Now she can say,"I want to go to the mall today." She also still has along way to go. She started Pro-Efa yesterday (actually I gave her the Omega 3-6-9 Jr. from Nordic Naturals) and she is really excited about it. She said her goal is to graduate from speech therapy. She told me that her teacher would keep the cloud on the wall that has her name on it even if she graduates from speech. :)
In the past 4 years she has received a diagnosis for ADHD and is currently on Adderall for that. It really made a huge difference with her schoolwork when she started that. She also started having seizures back when she was in the 1st grade. She is currently still on seizure medication, but has not (knock on wood) had a seizure in over 2 and 1/2 years. That is one reason she has not been on the supplements. **Now I have read that if they do have seizures these supplements are not recommended, but I have also read information stating that these kind of supplements have been shown to improve these types of seizures. There is not anything that I can find that links Omegas to seizures in any way shape or form.***
Halley lives with me, her stepdad, and her two sisters Shelby and Hannah now, me and her dad split up 5 years ago. She sees her dad every other weekend. She has 1 sister by her dad's previous relationship. She has 2 step siblings with her dad's marriage.
